ready to face and endure danger or unpleasant conditions or behavior; showing courage.
Everybody has a story. So we decided to just ask people what their's is!
We gathered some amazing community members to represent our You Are Collection and asked them a few questions about mental health. Then we asked them what BRAVE means.
What does it look like? What does it act like? What does it mean for you? What does it mean to wear it across your chest for everyone to see?
We wanted to share a couple of soundbites with you before we release the full video!
What does BRAVE mean to you?
Brave is being able to do this in front of the camera and openly admit I'm mentally ill but still working on it. -Michael 29, Stephenville Crossing NF
A lot of bravery comes from vulnerability. I think to be able to share that these pains are real and we all have them whether you're an alpha dude or anyone else and being vulnerable to share it is very brave to me. -Brett 37, Kelowna BC
Brave to me means being vulnerable, taking a chance on asking for help. Especially for men, we don't want to talk about mental health or mental illness so I think brave means just being able to talk about it and be open to admit that we all need help sometimes and it's okay to ask for help. -Reid 36, Kelowna BC
I think Brave means wherever you're at, maybe you're not having a good day, maybe you are having a good day and you're just going to be awesome at it and be the best you that you can be. -Rachel 27, Kelowna BC
Right now, standing here!! Building that confidence and utilizing the tools that are given to us which aren't as accessible as needed but it's getting there. It's really cool to see the bravery that's around and in this room right now and how everyone is coming together to help each other its awesome. -Meg 26 Comox, BC
Bravery to me is to not care so much about what other people think of you and have that level of confidence that you're more concerned about bettering yourself and other peoples opinions are there but you're not centered around it all the time -Kelsey 23, Kelowna BC
